We are led to believe pop stars arrive fully formed. We don’t see the years of preening, training and toiling that happens away from the black mirror. But in the case of Cat & Calmell, following their debut single in 2020, they’d found a whole creative team poised to curate their pop persona. It’s only several albums, EPs and a brief hiatus later, that Catherine Stratton and Calmell Teagle, understand the power of stripping it all back.
