“It’s so important to have somewhere you feel safe emotionally and physically. I wanted to make this film in response to feelings I couldn’t escape from. Take it as a message to leave all toxic environments and relationships and create a safe space for yourself whether that’s a person or a new environment or repairing the relationship with yourself.” - Crystal Russell

Spoken Words:

They say they love you
But you know that isn’t love...
You know that love is a softening
of the walls around your heart.
Love is choosing this softening.
And you choose a new family in your friendships
Because platonic love can be safer than romantic.
You go to people who feel like the warmth of the sun
when it’s just about to set and when darkness returns you wonder if somehow,
you can keep this warmth inside of you.
There’s so much pain you can’t erase.
I want you to know I’ll be
your safe place.
