Last week Charli XCX released her new single, ‘Beg For You’, featuring Rina Sawayama (hopefully the first of many from this duo). The hyper-pop track samples ‘Cry For You’ by September, fulfilling our nostalgic femme-pop dreams.
Could an album be on the way? Charli’s 2020 release How I’m Feeling Now’s’ bedroom music kept us company in uncertain times – a gift of avant-bangers that was as desperate for the dance floor as we all were. It was a cry out from confinement in discordant tones, washed in a reverb that echoed the intense loneliness suddenly shared by the whole world.
